Hey, hi… let me just… catch my breath… for a second… 😮💨
Hi friends! This has been an exhausting month. We’ve worked non-stop writing and reviewing, and managed to pump out a record number of developer tutorials!
And we’re not done yet, so there’s going to be a bit more of this before I can go back to… well, you know, my favorite city.
As a result, today’s report is pretty boring. Only plots and no screenshots. Boo boo, I know.
Writing Content
:task-docs-dev: Wrote tutorials on creating and signing multisignature accounts, sponsoring transactions, and adding account restrictions.
:task-docs-dev: Added Serialization tables and WebSocket API to the reference guides.
:task-docs-textbook: Added the Metadata page to the Textbook.
Review
:task-docs-dev: Zero delivered new tutorials on linking namespaces to addresses and mosaics, adding metadata to accounts, namespaces, and mosaics, creating new mosaics, updating a mosaic’s definition, namespace receipts, mosaic revocation, and chain state. All of them were reviewed and published.
:nem-shield: CryptoBeliever did an incredible job writing a full OpenAPI specification for the NIS1 REST API. It has 180 files, more than 4,500 lines of YAML, and it took a couple of weeks of back and forth to review. It’s going to be used in the upcoming new NEM docs.
Now I just need to convince him to do the same for the Symbol REST API, because the current docs could be improved quite a bit 😊
Management
Prepared a roadmap for the development of a new NEM docs site, and got some art direction from the art team.
With two writers working on tutorials full time for the whole month, we needed to spend time preparing task lists and job batches.

Here you have each task’s relative time distribution for this month:
This is the current status of all documentation tasks. The main line to watch is Symbol Documentation at the top, with all other entries listed as its subtasks. The bars in the chart represent how many of those subtasks have been completed. The change since last month is shown in orange.

As you can see, there’s been lots of progress in a lot of fronts! If the global “Symbol documentation” bar does not seem to move, it is because I keep adding tasks to it that move its progress backwards. When we do complete these tasks the top bar will take giant leaps 😁
And I’m afraid this is all there has been this month: work, work, work and no fun. Meaning, no XYM City, of course. But it’s been good for the game, actually! I’ve gained some perspective, been able to look at it with fresh eyes. When I get back to XYM City it will be with explosive energy, and with a few more things to say in it.
Zero and I are going to continue the Symbol docs sprint until the tutorials are done.
Then he’ll move to the new NEM docs and I’ll fall back to reviewing… and XYM City.
Also, the new Symbol Wallet is well underway, and once it’s done, we’ll write guides for it. But these are simpler than developer tutorials.
We’re not out of it yet, but we can definitely see the light at the end of the tunnel! And it’s neon-colored 😎
