Hello!
Just like last month, July was all about the Symbol Textbook.
I kept pushing forward through the most foundational pages, things like nodes, consensus, and harvesting. These are not the flashiest topics, but they are important for newcomers and veterans alike. Getting them right takes time, and I am happy with how they’re turning out.
Of course, that was not the only thing I worked on…
Writing content Just like last month, I focused entirely on the Textbook and completed another 25% chunk of the planned pages.
:task-docs-textbook: I hope it does not sound like an excuse, but foundational blockchain pages like the Nodes and Harvesting are the hardest ones for me to write. These docs are not just for people already in the space, so concepts like consensus, forks, or even key security need to be clearly explained. By contrast, writing about specific technologies or APIs feels like a breeze!
As I mentioned before, these pages may seem dry, but they are crucial for newcomers. And even as a seasoned developer, I find myself coming back to check them now and then.

Daruma Not much time for blockchain gaming experiments this month, but I still couldn’t resist sneaking in a few late-night sessions on XYM City 😅 See below!
Here you have each task’s relative time distribution for this month:
This is the current status of all documentation tasks. The main line to watch is Symbol Documentation at the top, with all other entries listed as its subtasks. The bars in the chart represent how many of those subtasks have been completed.
Orange bars show what has been done this month.
Last month I mentioned an attempt to bring some old XYM City drawings to life. It is still just an experiment, there is no master plan behind it, but I am starting to really like what I am seeing. A lot.
I’m calling that big building “The Coliseum” 😁
A random corner in the city.
Rooftops, maintenance hatches, and a planet.
There is also time for fun in XYM City!
I need to use the ATM, but I don’t trust that dark alley. Are there thugs in XYM City?
Look! A (badly-textured) mega store!
