Good morning!
Quick update this month, because I have a lot to do before the summer break!
Documentation is finally winding down, which means I managed to steal a little time for XYM City. Not as much as I would have liked, but enough to have something fun to share.
Writing Content
:symbol-shield: Work on the new Symbol Mobile Wallet has reached a point where I can start writing guides for it, and so I did. The interface is straightforward enough that most users will probably not need them, but it is better to have them ready than wish they existed later.
Review
:nem-shield: Zero is working full time on the new NEM docs site and I can barely keep up reviewing all the new pages 😄 Since the NEM developer tutorials are based on the Symbol ones and use the Symbol SDK, progress is much faster. I’m not kidding! Take a look at the current list.
Daruma
:xymcoin: This month I started strong working on the XYM City game. You can imagine how desperate I was after so many months of non-stop documentation work! But it quickly became apparent that docs still needed one final push if they are to be finished before the summer break. So after a week of bliss, I put the game on hold again. Below you can see what we managed to work on.
Management
The monthly, unavoidable dose of bureaucracy. We estimated the work required to port improvements from the new NEM tutorials back to the original Symbol ones, and prepared the list of guides for the Symbol Mobile Wallet. What can I say, I love lists. On the plus side, they are what power the awesome plots below 😄
Site configuration
⚙️ We are finally getting ready to merge the new documentation branch into the main development branch of the Symbol monorepo after more than a year of work on the Pull Request 🎉 This means adjusting to the global repository linting rules, removing the old docs folder, integrating the documentation into the build process… mostly maintenance work. But hey! I am always grateful for an excuse to put away the spell checker and do a bit of coding 😊
☕ Work on the Java SDK is progressing, so I re-enabled Java support in the docs site. No issues here, since this was planned for since the beginning.
:nem-shield: The new NEM docs site is still evolving, so its infrastructure still needs the occasional tweak.
Learning
🤖 I continued exploring LLM technology because, like it or not, it’s here to stay. I spent a couple of days experimenting with a local harness called Pi, and I highly recommend trying something similar if you have the chance. It gives valuable insight into what language models actually are and how we interact with them.
Here you have each task’s relative time distribution for this month:
The Symbol documentation is still officially complete 😄. I am only working on adding user guides for the Mobile Wallet.
I expected the NEM tutorials to progress faster than the Symbol ones, but not this fast!
75% of the planned NEM developer tutorials are already complete, up from 25% last month. The NEM Textbook is also finished and has already been reviewed by Jaguar.
