Hello!
The summer break is over, and it is time to get back to work… and what a month to start with!
Between meeting the Symbol community in Japan, making progress on the bridge, and giving life to the first citizens of XYM City, there has been no shortage of excitement!
Here is a quick look at everything that happened in September.
Review
As the bridge project advances, I reviewed all README files, which will serve as the foundation for the upcoming bridge documentation.
Management
:task-docs-dev: The hiring process for the new writer is complete. He will start producing developer tutorials very soon!
Writing content
:task-docs-textbook: Another Textbook page complete, only two left to go.
Daruma
It’s getting harder to resist spending extra time on XYM City now that it’s really taking shape. Check below for this month’s news.
Xymposium 2025
The highlight of the month, without a doubt! See the special section below.
Here you have each task’s relative time distribution for this month:
This is the current status of all documentation tasks. The main line to watch is Symbol Documentation at the top, with all other entries listed as its subtasks. The bars in the chart represent how many of those subtasks have been completed. The change since last month is shown in orange.
The main update this month is the addition of new tasks related to the bridge (tutorials and user guides). As a result, some completion percentages have slightly dropped.
I think I’m going to call this experiment XYM City 3D, a little throwback to the early days of 3D gaming like Quake, whose engine I’m using. Do you like it?
This update adds not only a few more buildings but also the first citizens of XYM City! They do not do much yet, and their current model is just a placeholder, but I can already picture the streets alive with people walking around, minding their own business. And like the little NPCs (Non-Player Characters) that they are, they will eventually answer questions, give missions, and hand out objects.
