Hello! Back from the summer break! 😎
Did you have time to stop and recharge? I did, and came back ready to work full time on the game that consumed every spare cycle of my brain during my vacation.
Other tasks were waiting for me and tried to get in the way… but I absolutely steamrolled them. Nothing can get between me and my baby now!
Writing Content
The addition of the Java SDK resulted in two major refactors of the tutorial code:
:symbol-shield: First off, Java versions of all tutorials were written (50 of them 😬).
:symbol-shield: Then, existing tutorials that created transactions were updated to use statically typed descriptors when the language supported them. This is a safer mechanism than creating them from plain objects, and I should have done this right from the start, but Python is dynamically typed and I didn’t want the code for the different languages to stray too much from each other. The latest version of the Symbol Python SDK does provide a workaround, though, so all tutorials creating transactions (about 40, in 3 languages 😬) now use typed descriptors.
This was a lot of work and I would normally not have accepted it so late in the process, but I wanted to do a little experiment and used ChatGPT for all the coding tasks. It was by no means automatic! The coding took a maybe couple of hours; the reviewing… a solid week of marathon sessions. Overall, I consider the result of the experiment quite impressive.
The downside is that I am now exhausted again and need another vacation 😂
That is, if it weren’t for… my other project.
Review
:nem-shield: Right before I left for the summer break, Zero submitted a couple of pull requests, fixing the remaining issues and generally polishing the docs.

⚙️ Adding Java to the mix of languages that de docs support required yet more behind-the-scenes tweaks. Nothing that a bit of grease (and a ton of Markdown) couldn’t fix.
Here you have each task’s relative time distribution for this month:
Only the Mobile Wallet user guides for multisignature operations are missing.
As promised in the last blog, all planned NEM tutorials are now done. I just need to add Java versions now, once I catch my breath from doing the same for the Symbol docs.
I’m back, babe! 🥹
You know these past months I have been tirelessly working on docs while thinking about the game. Then I spent the summer break away from the computer, but I took some notebooks with me and let all the pent-up insanity run free 😂

Paper notebooks, yes, I am oldskool.
Now I’m back at my desk, Symbol docs are almost done, and I’m pouring all my notes into an organized Game Design Document. The weekly talks with the artists have also resumed, with more company artists joining us as they finish their current tasks. I even interviewed a composer I worked with in the past, and he said he’d love to join the project.
So, it looks like the project is picking up speed, and I can’t express how excited I am 🥹 Actually, I can! The game is still very early and everything you see here is placeholder, including the portraits generated by ChatGPT, but I can’t help myself 😄
